John Roveto Gets it on the River

Al Hedin limped in middle position and John Roveto (pictured) raised to 700 in the cutoff. The big blind called and Hedin came along.

On the  flop, it checked to Roveto and he continued for 1,000. The big blind got out of the way and Hedin called.

They went heads up to the  turn and both players checked. On the  river, Hedin bet 1,500 and Roveto called.

Hedin's flopped pair of eights was ahead until Roveto paired his nine on the river to give him the best hand.
